Behind the scenes

The finished version is usually the least interesting part.

CVs and portfolios are edited objects. They compress systems, decisions, people, wrong turns and controlled chaos into something tidy. This is the short version of what sits behind mine.

01 / Outside the frame

The introduction, plus everything the final frame normally crops out.

Lights, cables, crew and spare chairs — the things the final frame politely leaves out.

The camera makes it look cleaner than the process. CVs do that too.

Production floor. Cables included.
02 / The work
Product × Data × Transformation

I started close to the system and moved closer to the decisions.

01

I started close to the system.

SQL, Oracle, ETL, calculation logic and data models made the machinery visible.

02

Then moved closer to the decisions.

Analytics, product ownership, enterprise aviation platforms, and now Group Finance data and transformation.

03

The common thread stayed the same.

Understand the system. Make the logic explicit. Translate across boundaries. Build something useful.

I would rather change my mind quickly than defend a bad idea beautifully.

Jeitinho brasileiro.
The useful version.

Not: rules are optional.

More like: the obvious path is blocked, the constraints are real, and an answer is still needed. Understand the system. Adapt responsibly. Find the workable route. Keep moving.

Resourcefulness without recklessness.
Improvisation with receipts.

03 / How I work

Three things worth knowing.

Structure

Structure without worshipping the structure.

Definitions and ownership matter. So does noticing when the process has become more important than the problem.

Depth

Go deep, then come back up.

Technical detail is useful when it returns as a clearer business decision, not a longer discussion about column names.

Humour

Lower the temperature, not the standard.

A well-timed joke can surface an absurdity or make a hard message easier to hear without lowering the bar.

04 / After hours

Fewer deliverables. Similar tendency to overthink.

Piano. Adult beginner. Chopin, Bach and Satie remain considerably better at it.

Old stories. Homer, the Eddas, mythology and history — mostly for what they say about ambition, fear and people making recognisably human decisions.

Objects & places. Cities, airports, infrastructure, furniture, design — and the occasional Casio whose main feature is successfully telling the time.
