Selected career milestones

From the data layer upward.

A deliberately selective timeline: the moments that changed the kind of problems I could solve, rather than every job title or project I touched.

Data

Started where business logic becomes data.

Built my foundation at CCEE in Oracle, SQL/PLSQL, ETL and production systems supporting a highly regulated electricity market. It was less glamorous than product strategy—and probably more useful: learning how calculation logic, data models and operational systems actually behave under real constraints.

DataTransformation

Moved from writing queries to designing systems.

Expanded from data development into systems analysis: requirements, UML/BPMN/DFD, testing strategy, transactional and reporting models, and production troubleshooting. The recurring pattern was already emerging—translate business rules into something technical teams can implement and validate.

DataTransformation

Shifted from systems to market rules.

As an Energy Market Analyst, the work moved upstream: legislative and regulatory changes had to become calculation algebra, pricing and settlement logic, KPIs and impact analysis.

DataTransformation

Started working on risk before it became a dashboard.

Moved into a Business Analyst role bridging Internal Audit, Market Security and technical teams. The work combined risk questions with data definitions, SQL, ETL, analytical design and executive communication.

DataTransformation

Helped shape an integrated market-risk framework while it was still being formed.

Led end-to-end delivery work on CCEE's Integrated Risk Analysis, contributing across requirements, data modelling, ETL and SAS analytics. Public CCEE material later documented the framework at 60+ metrics, 10 indicators and three pillars.

ProductTransformation

Changed industries, countries and level of abstraction at once.

Moved from Brazil's electricity market to Dubai aviation and into Technical Product Ownership at Emirates / dnata. The technical foundation stayed useful, but the job became orchestration across operational users, engineering, delivery, vendors and enterprise priorities.

ProductTransformation

Turned a legacy-system rewrite into product choices.

Led extended discovery for the Baggage Reconciliation System modernisation, producing 75 features, defining the MVP and a five-year roadmap, and supporting RFI/RFP work.

Product

Expanded leadership without pretending it was line management.

Alongside product ownership, I mentored junior Product Owners and team members, ran knowledge-transfer sessions, led delivery ceremonies and acted as a frequent point of contact across engineering and QA.

The through-line

The titles changed. The useful role stayed surprisingly consistent.

Understand the business rule, get close enough to the data and systems to challenge it, then make the problem clear enough for people with different incentives and expertise to move together.
